This year we are introducing a new twist on the design charettes. The goal of this year's Workshop charettes is to enhance the interaction between the design professionals. Each participating firm will work along side the students on the projects. The professionals will assume the role of team leader, and guide their group through the design process. The projects will cover a broad range of concepts so students will still be able to choose a project that interests them. Make sure to arrive and register on the first day of Workshop to secure your spot in the project you want to work.
Another change this year is there will be a formal presentation for each project. Two 24"x36" poster boards will be provided to present your designs. Each team working a project will present to the other, so that each team can see how the other group addressed the design objectives. After each of the teams has presented, the firm supplying the project will present their design for the project. All the poster boards will be on display later that evening at Casino Night for everyone to see.
This new approach has been well received by the participating firms and we are optimisitc that everyone will have a great time.
This year we are brining back the graphic charettes on the second day of Workshop. Paul Wilson from John Moon will kick off Saturday with a lecture on the importance of graphics in our profession. After the lectures, students will have the choice to attend a charette on either hand or computer graphics. Paul Wilson will host the computer based charette and show the participants the steps and tricks he uses to produce stunning graphics. Students electing to attend the hand graphic charette will be able to work along side John Moon to learn and practice the techniques he uses. Each charette will be held twice so that students will have the opportunity to attend both sessions.
